On March 8, the opening ceremony of the 2026 edition of the "Her Art in Action" festival was held at "Gazelli Art House".
On the first day of the festival, within the framework of the joint cooperation of VarYokh art and culture platform and "Gazelli Art House" Baku gallery, the exhibition of the group exhibition on the theme "House opening to the view" began.
Leyla Aliyeva's paintings are also included in the exhibition.
Leyla Aliyeva participated in the exhibition and reviewed the exhibited works.
Leyla Aliyeva was informed about the festival and told that "Her Art in Action" is an annual program founded and implemented by VarYox art and culture platform and is dedicated to promoting gender equality in the field of art, increasing cultural inclusion, as well as strengthening Azerbaijan's international cultural participation. This year, the festival covering the months of March - May will be held in different places of Baku city for three months.
It was noted that "Her Art in Action", held three years in a row, acts as a rare festival dedicated to women's creativity and interethnic exchange in the region. The project actively brings together women from Azerbaijan and the countries of the region, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Georgia, Egypt, as well as from the Balkan region, Spain and Lithuania.
The theme "House opening to the landscape" considers the house not as a fixed space, but as a changing situation formed by women's experience. Beyond the confines of the everyday, the theme explores how women create, define, struggle and reclaim space in the tension between public and private life, visibility and solitude, belonging and resistance.
Within the event, the martyr's mother's birthday was celebrated, Leyla Aliyeva presented her with a gift.
Also, the exhibition participants presented Leyla Aliyeva with their handiwork.
Finally, Leyla Aliyeva also visited the memorial corner of the founder and president of Gazelli Group company Zarifa Hamzayeva.
Curator of this year's edition of the festival, multimedia artist Sitara Ibrahimbeyli noted that the works of 27 local and foreign artists were displayed at the opening of the first exhibition held on March 8: "This is the third year that we are opening the festival on March 8. There will be three openings in total. In April, a joint exhibition will be organized by the students of the Integrated Training Boarding School No. 11 (Bilgah) based on a dialogue with well-known contemporary artists. The third project and it will be held in the Old Town and there will be an open-air photography night. In total, over 50 artists' works will be exhibited."
Independent artist Kafiya Eyvazova participated in this year's festival with the work "View from the Window". "I have been participating in the festival for three years, and this is the first time I am presenting a work in the carpet technique. The work is woven in the pile carpet technique and invites people to question the family structure. Here, although male motives seem to protect female motives, they limit it. Gradually, the features of the woman's face disappear. Because the restriction puts a person's personality in the background and makes it invisible. The work advises our society to value women, to listen to them and not limit their freedom."
The festival will end on May 31.
