For the first time, one athlete won two gold medals at the Olympic Games

Swiss alpine skier Franjo von Allmen became the first athlete to win two gold medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The 24-year-old athlete achieved this historic achievement in the first days of the competition.

On February 7, von Allman won the downhill race with a time of 1:51.61 seconds. Italy's Giovanni Franzoni finished second, 0.20 seconds behind the winner, and compatriot Dominic Paris finished third, 0.50 seconds behind.

Today, on February 9, Franjo won a gold medal in the team event together with his compatriot Tanguy Neef. After his share of the competition, von Allman finished fourth, but Neef managed to lead Switzerland to first place in the slalom.

It should be noted that both of the awards von Allman won in Italy were his first Olympic medals. The Swiss had never participated in the Olympic Games before.
