Our judoka Zelim Tckayev won a silver medal in France
Azerbaijani national team took third place in the "Grand Slam" with a set of medals
The first "Grand Slam" tournament of the year, which was held in Paris, the capital of France, and in which the men's national team of Azerbaijan participated, has ended. Just like the first day of the tournament, the last day can be considered successful for our national team. Thus, our team, which won 2 (1-0-1) medals on the first day, won one silver medal on the last day, and thus the number of medals reached 3 (1-1-1). The only medal of the last day was won by Zelim Tckayev (81 kg), who lost to Japanese Yuhei Oino in the decisive final match. With this, our 26-year-old judoka repeated the result he achieved two years ago in the French Helmet. By the way, on the way to the final, our judoka first crossed the Chinese barrier, and then defeated representatives of Great Britain, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that Balabey Agayev (60 kg) won a gold medal and Ruslan Pashayev (66 kg) won a bronze medal on the opening day of the tournament. Azerbaijan finished the tournament with one set of medals (1-1-1). With this result, our men's national team took the second place among 78 teams, and the third place in the overall team score.
According to the regulation, the first three judokas in each weight received 1000, 700 and 500 rating points, respectively. These points will be reflected in the ranking table to be announced by IJF. It is certain that our medal-winning judokas will improve their position in the ranking table.
