The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) dispatched a group of Korean experts to the Azerbaijan's Food Products Procurement and Supply OJSC during April 29 - May 2, 2019 to conduct pre-survey on the Country Specific Training Program titled “Development of Food Procurement and Supply System in Azerbaijan”.
The Expert Group, consisting of the professors from the Hankyong National University, was assigned to carry-out research on system, legislation and policies, health and quality control related to the food procurement and supply system in Azerbaijan. The dispatch group identified the current situation and problems through holding meetings with the relevant officials from the Food Products Procurement and Supply OJSC, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and paid visits to the Distribution Center, Market and Farm belonging to the OJSC, as well.
During the kick-off meeting, the Board Member of the OJSC, Ms.Leyla Mammadova, stated that although OJSC is a newly established Company, they use innovative solutions in order to play a leading role in bringing the country's agricultural market to a full-fledged level. She expressed her gratitude to the KOICA for such assistance and noticed that this training program will help their employees to familiarize with modern technologies and food security issues in Korea. The dispatch group stated that the Korea has already built effective health and quality control systems applying ICT to agricultural products, livestock farming, process and distribution. And this Training Program in Korea will help OJSC staff to acquire and deepen knowledge on this area through field visits and lectures.
Country Director of the KOICA Azerbaijan Office, Ms. Park Kumok emphasized that the Agriculture is one of the priority area agreed between Azerbaijan and Korea on the Country Partnership Strategy. She noted that the Country Specific Training Program on “Development of Food Procurement and Supply System in Azerbaijan” to be held during 2019-2021 will give chance for thirty officials of the OJSC to participate at the Program in Korea for two weeks each year. The Program aims to transfer knowledge on how to apply know-how techniques of Korea related to food procurement and supply to Azerbaijan.
Based on the consultations and discussions held during the pre-survey meetings the experts will improve the quality of the Training Program in order to contribute to the Company in building advanced food procurement and supply system in Azerbaijan.
