As one of the major cultural events for 2016, a classical music gala concert will take place at the State Philharmonic in Baku on 19th November to commemorate the 135th anniversary of the birth of Béla Bartók, the great Hungarian composer. Yehudi Menuhin called him “the genius of the 20th century”. Menuhin described his creativity by the following words; “the reciprocal influences of East and West found their fullest expression in Béla Bartók, the last great romantic composer.”
The Second Rhapsody for Violin, the Third Rhapsody for Piano with Orchestra and Hungarian songs for the verses of Endre Ady will be performed by such world-famous violinist as Graf Mourja, pianist György Oravecz and singer Andrea Jőrös-Brassói.
The gala concert is organized by the Hungarian Embassy in Baku in close cooperation with the State Philharmonic. An exhibition – under the title of “Mikrokosmos: An introduction to the world of Béla Bartók” - will display the musical art career of Bela Bartok in the lobby of the Concert Hall.
