LG Electronics Inc., one of the world’s leading consumer electronics manufacturers, said Sunday sales of its ultra high-definition (UHD or 4K) TV sets have reached 900 units three weeks after they were put on the market.

The company said of the three models on sale, the TV with the screen size of 49-inches accounted for half of products sold, thanks to its relatively affordable price of 2.9 million won (US$2,800).By comparison, the price of the 55-inch model has been set at 3.9 million won, while the 65-inch TV is worth 7.4 million won.
The electronics giant said it will move to launch larger UHD TVs with screen sizes reaching 79 and 84 inches in the first half to meet diverse consumer demand.
Analysts believe that new technologies, such as UHD will draw public attention to modern TVs. 4K TV sales will exceed 12 million units in 2014, and by 2017 will grow up to 62 million units, according to NPD DisplaySearch, DailyComm reports.
