The Chairman of the Clerical Office of Caucasus Muslims, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, has hosted the Iftar ceremony on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan at his residency.
The Iftar ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The ceremony started with the recitation of ayats from the Holy Koran.
The Chairman of the Clerical Office of Caucasus Muslims, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for accepting the invitation to attend the Iftar ceremony organized on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. He said it was a sign of great reverence for Islam and for national and spiritual values.
Sheikh-ul-Islam said Ramadan is a month of solidarity, friendship, brotherhood, love, mercy and grace. The Iftar ceremonies organized in Azerbaijan are also evidence of the traditional tolerance, unity and cohesion in the country.
The Chairman of the Clerical Office of Caucasus Muslims said that stability, development, unity, freedom of conscience and tolerance prevailing in Azerbaijan were made possible by the policies the foundation of which was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Sheikh-ul-Islam said that the international community also recognizes the rapid socioeconomic development and exemplary tolerance observed in our country.
Pointing to the special contribution of the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, to the preservation and strengthening of national and spiritual values, Allahshukur Pashazade said the government was taking consistent steps for the restoration of ancient mosques and shrines, synagogues and churches. The Chairman of the Clerical Office of Caucasus Muslims extended his best wishes on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan.
The head of the Baku-Azerbaijan diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, Alexander, noted that the tolerance observed in Azerbaijan was highly regarded internationally and expressed his best wishes to the people of Azerbaijan.
The chairman of the Baku Religious Community of Mountain Jews, Milikh Yevdayev, and the high priest of the Catholic Church in Azerbaijan, Vladimir Fekete, pointed to the constructive relationship between the state and religious communities in the country. They said that interreligious dialogue in the country was at a high level and extended their congratulations.
President Ilham Aliyev delivered a speech at the ceremony.
The head of state described the traditional Iftar ceremony as a clear evidence of the unity of our society and close cohesion between the state and religion in the name of common ideas. He noted that this tradition, the foundation of which was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev and Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, was successfully continuing.
The President of Azerbaijan stressed that interreligious dialogue in the country is exemplary and representatives of all ethnicities live here like one family.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is a country that respects human values and is integrated into the international community. Azerbaijan is also making a contribution to Islamic solidarity. Noting that Azerbaijan has achieved rapid socioeconomic progress, President Ilham Aliyev said that the country continues to thrive in all areas. He described this as a clear evidence of the steady growth of the country’s economic power and international authority.
Highlighting the fact that Azerbaijan is making a worthy contribution to intercultural and interreligious dialogue, the President noted that the reconstruction of religious centers was also constantly in the spotlight of the state.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the need for demonstrating the country’s stance in respect of certain phenomena that cause damage to the intercultural and interreligious dialogue in a number of countries. The head of state praised the special contribution of Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade to the country and his high authority in the international arena, and expressed his best wishes to him and the people of Azerbaijan for the upcoming Ramadan holiday.
Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade expressed his appreciation to President Ilham Aliyev and stressed that he would continue to apply every effort in the name of promoting national interests.
Then Iftar was served.
