Freedom of expression network appeals to international organizations on Khojali

CASCFEN gets new members, appoints senior representative in Central Asia

Baku, CASCFEN, Feb 25, 2013 – The Board of Baku based Central Asian and Southern Caucasian Freedom of Expression Network (CASCFEN) has discussed the issue of Khojali massacre as well in its meeting held the last Saturday. According to press release issued by the organization the Board, in order to get attention of the world community once more to the fact of genocide in Khojali, committed 21 years ago – on February 26, 1992 by the Armenians with support of Russia`s 366th regiment, decided to address an appeal to international human rights and journalist organizations.

Afterwards the Board reviewed appeals for membership to CASCFEN by 16 prominent freedom of expression actors and all the following persons were accepted to the organization:

1. Allahverdi Donmez – a journalist
2. Arzu Shirinova – editor of “Khalq Jebhesi” daily
3. Dr. Almaz Ulvi – senior scientific worker at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, collaborator of “Khalq qezeti” daily
4. Dr. Eldeniz Shamli Abbasli – an investigative journalist
5. Dr. Fuad Babayev – a journalist, General Director of H.Aliyev Heritage Research Center
6. Farida Ibadli – a writer and translator
7. Irade Teymurqizi – a librarian at the National Library named after M.F.Akhundov
8. Konul Velibeyli – art-director of the Baku National Dress House, a journalist
9. Lale Khalilqizi – a philologist
10. Mushteba Ismayiloglu – chief editor of the “Veten ugrunda” newspaper
11. Nazile Gultaj – a poetess
12. Ramile Qardashkhanqizi – a writer
13. Said Ali – correspondent of the “Veten ugrunda” newspaper
14. Tahir Zahidoglu – director of Besin Ltd, a journalist
15. Zakir Agdamli – a writer
16. Zerengiz Demirchi Qayali – a poetess, culture correspondent of AzerTAj news agency

CASCFEN Board has discussed an appointment of representative of the organization as well and made a decision on Central Asia representative. Taking into consideration the offer of Azer Hasret, CASCFEN chairman, the Board appointed a prominent journalist and public actor, former representative of state TV of Azerbaijan in Germany, now residing in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, chief editor of published in Central Asia “Veten” and “Turkel” newspapers and “Altun Kopru” magazine as well, as a senior representative of the organization in this region. The Board members decided that newly appointed senior representative in Central Asia shall prepare his suggestions on single country representatives in the region.
