Zulfugar Hajibeyov's opera "Nushaba".
On April 13, 2021, an online seminar of researcher Fidan Nasirova was held in the research laboratory of the Baku Music Academy named after U.Hajibeyli "Research of oral professional Azerbaijani professional music and its new directions: Organology and Acoustics".
The topic of the seminar was the work of Zulfugar Hajibeyov and the opera "Nushaba".
The speaker looked at the short work of Zulfugar Hajibeyli (1884-1950), the elder brother and comrade-in-arms of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, and then introduced his staff by analyzing his unfinished opera "Nushaba". Zulfugar Hajibeyli, who moved to Baku in 1907, began his career. His first pen experiments were operettas. In 1909, he wrote one of the first operettas, Fifty Years Old. This was Zulfugar Bey's first theatrical work. The composer has a number of musical comedies such as "Eleven-year-old wife" (1911), "Married single" (1911) and others. One of his works was "Ashig Garib", written in 1915 and occupying an important place in his work. The peculiarity of the work was that the opera reflected the synthesis of folk music and European music.
As one of the prominent artists, Hajibeyov was also active in the socio-cultural life of the republic. He has worked very hard in this field. However, there are many works that he could not finish. The archive contains unfinished works written in various genres. Numerous materials have been found proving that he was working on the opera "Nushaba" written on the libretto of Abdullah Shaikh. The opera "Nushaba" was written on the basis of Nizami Ganjavi's poem "Isgendername". The composer's own opinion on this opera states that it was Zulfugar Hajibeyov who wrote the opera "Nushaba" referring to Nizami Ganjavi's poem.
The speaker also noted that the opera "Nushaba" glorifies the courage and bravery of the ruler of Barda Nushaba. In his poem, Nizami Ganjavi spoke about a new type of head of state, a just structure, creating the image of a brave, strong-willed, intelligent and capable ruler of Barda Nushaba. This work, which is considered to be the highest peak of the great poet Nizami's creativity and the brightest pearl of Eastern poetry, depicts an ideal society.
The rapporteur also noted a very interesting fact that Nizami Ganjavi's poem "Isgendername" was translated from Persian into Azerbaijani by Abdulla Shaig and Mikayil Rzaguluzade. Abdulla Shaig's play "Nushaba" is an interesting example of art based on Nizami's plot.
The scene of the opera "Nushaba" consists of 5 sections. At the end of the stage, after Nushaba's performance, a trio of apotheosis-culmination character sounds.
At the end of the seminar, Nurida Ismayilzadeh, Head of the Scientific Laboratory, Doctor of Philosophy in Art History, Associate Professor; Doctor of Philosophy in Art History, leading researcher Narmina Bayramalibeyli; Leading researcher, Doctor of Philosophy in Art History Imina Aliyeva; Honored Art Worker, Doctor of Philosophy in Art History, Professor Arif Asadullayev, senior researcher Zeynal Isayev and other members of the laboratory expressed their views on the topic.
