The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the KOICA Alumni Association in Azerbaijan (KOAZ) strengthens its partnership to support and improve the dental health of the children.
In Azerbaijan, 90-95% of the population has caries, and children make up the bulk of this indicator. Children, especially those who live in orphanages, have serious problems in this regard. 90% of orphanages in Azerbaijan do not have dental offices. However, the teeth of the children should be under strict medical supervision until the baby teeth is knocking out.The Ufuq Society launched the Mobile Dental Clinic in 2002 to organize the treatment and prophylactic treatment of the teeth of children in need. But nowadays the Mobile Dental Clinic isonly able to provide examination and diagnosis services to children in need and has difficulty in obtainingdental supplies and tools, therefore provide preventive treatment rather thanin depth treatment.
In this regard, on October18 the KOICAand the KOAZ donated necessary dental materials to the Ufug Charity Society’s Mobile Dental Clinic in order to improve dental health of children residing in orphanages and refugee camps. KOICA always focuses on the improvement of the quality of human life and regularly supports such social projects in many countries, as the health of the children is the most important factor.
The Chairman of the Ufug Charity Society Mr. AkifAhmadov expressed his appreciation to the KOICA and said that the aim of the Mobile Dental Clinic is protecting the health of children, especially those who are residing in orphanages and refugee camps, he highlighted that the clinic provides services to orphanages not only locating in Baku but also in the regions.
